Rebecca Davis is a freelance journalist, opinions writer, editor, podcaster and presenter – basically, she knows how to tell a good story.

Rebecca has served as Senior News and Features Writer and Weekend Editor at Mamamia, Australia’s largest women’s media company. She cut her journo teeth at The Australian Jewish News, working her way from News Journalist to Features Editor, and leading the editorial team as Head of Content.

Favouring fairness over sensationalism, over the years she has earned a reputation as a trusted journalist with integrity, sensitivity, and professionalism.

She has interviewed an array of personalities, from international celebrities (Nigella Lawson, Yotam Ottolenghi, Aleeza Ben Shalom (Netflix’s Jewish Matchmaking))  and cultural icons (Esther Perel, Jodi Kantor); to survivors of the October 7 Hamas terror attack, domestic violence, sexual abuse, and the Holocaust.

And her reporting has affected real change.

In 2019, Rebecca broke two alarming cases of antisemitic bullying in Victorian schools that sparked furore, and was picked up by mainstream media outlets worldwide.

Her sustained coverage resulted in a government inquiry that saw the introduction of mandatory Holocaust education for all Year 9 and 10 students in Victorian state schools, as well as the implementation of new reporting protocols for victims of all religious vilification.

Warm and engaging, Rebecca is also an event moderator and presenter. In 2023, she interviewed international star Aleeza Ben Shalom before a live audience of 1,110. In a more intimate gathering, she interviewed Hollywood actress, producer, author and pro-Israel activist Noa Tishby. In the wake of the October 7 2023 Hamas Terror Attack, Rebecca moderated a moving live interview panel with family and friends of Israeli hostages and terror victims.

In 2020, Rebecca co-led a special investigation which uncovered rife gender-based bullying and allegations of sexual harassment in Melbourne and Sydney Jewish organisations, and highlighted the vastly inadequate numbers of female leadership and board representation.

The ensuing momentum saw the community's federal roof body unanimously pass a motion for gender equality, while Monash University's Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation established a major research project for further investigation. Moreover, internal reviews occurred within several Jewish organisations resulting in new policy and leadership change.

Rebecca is the founder and host of The Good Edit, a podcast that amplifies the stories of Jewish women. In a series of gritty and grounded conversations, she speaks with a range of Jewish women - from entrepreneurs to activists; creatives to survivors of major adversity, and many more.
